The Bible is clear when Jesus says: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4). Just as the body needs nutritious food to stay strong and healthy, our spirit needs the Word of God to grow, strengthen and stay focused on the truth. However, we often look for quick solutions, "self-help" messages or popular philosophies that may sound attractive, but lack the power that only the truth of God offers. "Spiritual junk food" can temporarily satisfy our needs, but as on the physical level, its long-term effects are harmful. It malnourishes the soul, weakens our faith and leaves us spiritually empty. In every heart there is a void that only God can fill. The Scriptures speak to us of a thirst and hunger beyond the physical, a need for connection with our Lord. Jesus said: "I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never be hungry; and he who believes in me will never thirst." (John 6:35). This truth has not changed. Over the centuries, entire generations have experienced the deep satisfaction that only a relationship with God can offer. Certainly, the soul that is hungry for God will never be satisfied with the crumbs of the world.
