Lowers Soil pH High Quality Sulfur Formulated for Blueberry Bush Palletized for controlled release add 3/4 pound of sulfur per 100 square feet Sulfur Fertilizer is the best amendment for lowering the pH of soil for blueberries. For each 1 point you want to lower the pH of sandy soils, add 3/4 pound of sulfur per 100 square feet of garden area. Add 1 1/2 to 2 pounds of sulfur to rich, organic soil and 3 pounds or more to clay soil. Thoroughly mix the sulfur into the upper layer of soil. This process works best on soils with a pH not much higher than 5.1 and can take from six months to two years. It's not really possible to permanently lower the pH of a soil with a higher pH.
