Is There Someone Important You’ve Forgotten to Love? It’s the second greatest commandment in the Bible: Love your neighbor as you love yourself. But what if you don’t love yourself very well? How can you grow into a happier, freer, and more genuinely loving you?In Loving God, Loving Myself, biblical counselors Jerry and Denise Basel give you a traveling companion on your journey to healing from life’s wounds and Satan’s lies. These fifty-five engaging and hope-filled readings correspond to the Basels’ book The Missing Commandment: Love Yourself and make a valuable accompaniment. However, this book is designed to stand by itself. The Basels say, “Some of the writings are inspirational. Others are informative and instructional to help you better understand yourself and your life story.”Read just one short chapter a day. Steep in the wisdom and encouragement gleaned from God’s Word. Learn from the stories of others as well as the Basels themselves. And gain daily hope, insight, and vision for your life as you walk the road with God toward loving yourself and others the way God does. This is a great book and really helpful at reframing your negative beliefs about yourself that are anchored in guilt, fear, or shame. Healing is a process and sometimes its one step foward and two steps back. I read the first book and have it on audibook too and really loved it. I told my counselor about it. Im working through ptsd and agoraphobia and its good to find chtistian resources. I would love for them to do something in a workbook format. -- Amazon.com Reviewer I'm very glad I decided to get this book. I wasn't sure how much more there could be after reading their phenomenal first book (The Missing Commandment: Love Yourself), but Wow! Love the format of the shorter daily-style readings. So many of the readings were just what I needed to hear on that particular day/time. It's almost like having a personal cheerleader to keep me moving toward a deeper relationship with God. A well-written book that keeps hope alive despite the tough times in our journey. Thanks, Jerry & Denise for sharing God's love through this work. -- Amazon.com Reviewer This new book by the Basel's is a fantastic companion to their book 'The Missing Commandment: Loving Yourself'. It can also be read by itself for those who want a daily devotional and room to journal. In the future I will start off teaching any bible study by reading aloud page 42, 'Is It Unscriptural To Love Myself?'. There are a lot of personal stories that draws the reader into the space of being cozy and being challenged at the same time. Like Oprah use to say, a ton of "Aha" moments". Reading for every day to get to know yourself better and how much your heavenly Father knows and loves you. -- Amazon.com Reviewer I received two and a half years of counselling from Jerry and Denise in their wonderful retreat setting in the mountains of North Georgia. It was a very precious time of healing, wholeness and freedom for me. Now about 5 years later, this book has taken me back to that time. Reading this book one chapter at a time is like sitting in a session with them. Each chapter is very specifically geared to a healing insight that was lovingly imparted to me. Old patterns are easier to stay out of with this source of review at my fingertips. Jerry and Denise's love for people and passion for their wholeness seeps through and oozes out of what they have written. They are real people and this book is a gem. -- Amazon.com Reviewer Sometimes it is difficult to know where to begin or restart the process of healing and growth. This book helps me identify thoughts or behaviors that are still lingering even though I thought I had completed the healing process. It also helps identify areas I did not realize I was stuck or holding false beliefs. I find it encouraging to read about others who have similar thoughts and feelings, it reminds me that I am not alone. I like the prayers and suggestions so that I know what to do with the thoughts, feelings, behaviors and can move forward rather than just open the wound and stay stuck. I am working thru this individually but could see it as a very helpful book to read and discuss with someone else or in a group setting. Excellent book! -- Amazon.com Reviewer Jerry and Denise Basel have co-directed The Father's Heart Intensive Christian Counseling Ministry for more than twenty-five years, counseling individuals and couples worldwide. In addition to "The Missing Commandment: Love Yourself" book, DVD, and study guide, they are the authors of "Loving God, Loving Myself: Finding the Heart of the Father in Our Daily Lives."
